Our song list ends with the all-new song " If You Can Dream" featuring Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Aurora, Ariel, Cinderella and Belle. Based on an excerpt from "the Blue Danube" op.314, this song isn't as offensive as the previous one, so it won't get stuck in your head. " Sweet Wings Of Love" from Mickey, Donald & Goofy In the Three Musketeers was only slightly better. To add insult to injury, the song has the audacity to incorporate lyrics from the original classic " Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" written by Mack David, Jerry Livingston and Al Hoffman. In fact, i'm trying to figure out which hurt more the visual assault on my eyes thanks to the extremely lazy art featured in the movie or the sonic assault that came close to making my ears bleed. This song sounds like it's straight from the same factory that was responsible for the "Manufactured Teenybopper Boy Band" dark ages of the late 90s. Dreams Come True brings everything to a screeching halt. Unfortunately the next song, " Put It Together " from the "cheapquel" classic Cinderella II: Electric Booga.err. I wouldn't say this was a great song, however it's a vast improvement over the previous one. Getting slightly back on track, " I Won't Say " from Hercules is the next selection. The song " Like Other Girls" from the upcoming Mulan II demonstrates how lackadaisical Disney has become with their direct-to-video "cheapquels". We go from a great song like " Reflection" to a song that proves how misguided the Eisner-led Disney company has become. Lea Salonga does a great job on this song and I will even admit to liking the Christina Aguilera version. One of my favorite recent Disney songs " Reflection" from the underrated Mulan follows. Next up are Pocahontas' " Colors Of the Wind" and " Beauty And the Beast" from umm. It's also some of the last work from the late, great Howard Ashman, who passed away during the production of the film.ĭisney reaches way back into the vault for the next two songs: Sleeping Beauty's " Once Upon A Dream" and Snow White And the Seven Dwarf's " I'm Wishing/One Song" are both classics. " A Whole New World" from the recently released on DVD Aladdin is up next and features a terrific performance from Brad Kane and the lovely Lea Salonga. The next song from the Little Mermaid, " Part Of Your World" is an Ashman & Menken classic and one of the songs that ushered in the resurgence of Disney's Animation Department. This is a notable addition since Cinderella has yet to be released on DVD. The set begins with Cinderella's " A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes". It also features an all-new song featuring all the princesses called " If You Can Dream". Okay, so those last two are nowhere near classic material. As with the previous "Sing-A-Long" discs, this one features thirteen different songs originally from Disney classics such as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty to recent soon-to-be classics Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Mickey, Donald & Goofy In the Three Musketeers. Overall, I liked this one very much. The latest in the Disney line of " Sing-A-Long" collections, this one features songs spanning the animated history of the various Disney Princesses and coincides with the recent Princess releases " Princess Party Volume One" and " Princess Stories Volume One". Though If You Can Dream is a very welcome and nice addition. Other than Once Upon a Dream, Colours of the Wind with how it makes connect with nature and the earth, the heartfelt Part of Your World, the magnificent Beauty and the Beast title number capping it with the ultimate dance scene in the ballroom scene which is still one of Disney's jaw dropping moments and the inspiring A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes are the standouts. The animation is luscious and smooth, with the stylised look of Once Upon a Dream and the bright atmospheric colours of A Whole New World especially impressive, the vocal talent of the likes of Jodi Benson and Angela Lansbury still enthralls and the music with only Put it Together lacking(then again I never did like the songs or the film) is wonderful. The song of which this video takes its name from is one of Disney's most romantic and beautiful, with poetic lyrics and the melody outstanding, well it was from Tchaikovsky's timeless ballet score after all. Sleeping Beauty is my third favourite Disney film after Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, and coming from someone who loves the Disney sing along series and has done since childhood I loved Once Upon a Dream.
